A photo of Angela Houtz, 27, a civilian naval employee at the Pentagon, still hangs in her Maryland high school, where she graduated as salutatorian in 1992.

Houtz was working at the Pentagon on Tuesday when the hijacked plane struck the building.

Davis A. Rice, who taught her Latin for four years and advanced placement English in her senior year at Maurice J. McDonough High School in Charles County, told The Washington Post that he recalled her quiet intelligence.

"I remember her as one of the best minds I ever taught," he told The Post. "She was usually really quiet, but when she had something to say, she commanded the respect of her peers."
